Abstract
This study aims to investigate causes of suicidal ideation of persons with severe disabilities, and a total of 224 registered disabled persons in S-gu of Seoul were surveyed. The analysis of the suicidal ideation of persons with severe disabilities based on general characteristics showed that those who have ever attempted suicide have more suicidal ideation than those who have not. However, multiple regression analysis of the influence of daily activities, experience of committing suicide, and depression on suicidal ideation without general characteristics uncovered statistically significant effect of ¡®depression¡¯ and ¡®experience of committing suicide¡¯, while there was no statistical significance in ¡®daily activities¡¯. These results suggest that persons with severe disabilities, who have experience of committing suicide and depression in the past, need more care and support to prevent any future trial of suicide since they are more vulnerable to suicidal ideation.
